We are Right
54
I wrote this a month before George W. Bush lying got us into a war with Iraq. This poem was published in a local paper. I rarely write poetry, maybe once a year. Another poem is at: http://hubpages.com/hub/Reading-Your-Work-in-Public
A few months before that event a very bad accident occurred, forty or more motorists sped top speed into a fog bank where ten died in a fiery crash. Yes, I thought to myself, those motorists were as mindless as the people who want us to go to war.
***
I am right
George W. Bush is right
We are going to war
We need to go to war
I can feel it in my bones
In my head, my back, my arms, all the way down to my legs.
I drive fast to work
I will get ahead
I am important
For those I passed are not
No one will stop me
I can’t let anyone slow me down; my radar detector protects me.
My flags fly in the wind
My sport’s team will win
American’s team will win
My flags fly fast on my car
I speed because I can
I charge though rain, snow, and fog; traffic will not stop me.
People call me all the time
I am so important
My office needs to be ready
My customers will be sold
I make it happen
I call to get my Mocha Cafe, Cheese Danish, and New York Times.
I carry a gun
Because I am important
We will be at war
To protect our country, to protect our oil
To protect my manhood
To gets that better parking spot, the last loaf of bread, and the remote control.
George W. Bush is right
I am right
We Are Right = WAR.
Be careful out there, give Peace a chance.

I appreciate your sense of attachment for the country you born through the rhymes of a little poem.
